Transfers by boat in the Port of Mahon (Minorca)

What are they?
Owing to the width of the Port of Mahon, it has historically always been necessary to transport people, building materials and goods from one shore to the other of this long and wide bay. The passenger boat transfer service continues to be used for recreational and tourism purposes in order to combine a maritime boat-trip around the Port of Mahon with a visit to some of the islands, to participate in the local fiestas or to reach some of the boats anchored inside or outside of the port.
When do they
take place?
They can take place by arrangement according to the requirements of each customer.
How do I book?
For each service the customer must ask for (by e-mail) a quotation and availability sufficiently in advance. Once the customer has accepted the quotation from Yellow Catamarans, the company reserves the date and the customer pays an advance on the price agreed. The balance is payable by bank transfer on the same week of the transfer by boat in the Port of Mahon (Minorca).
From Mahon to the "Fortaleza de
La Mola"
Arriving by sea, sailing around the Port of Mahon from its interior to its entrance, one sees the dramatic "Fortaleza de Isabel II La Mola" rise upon one of highest cliffs in Minorca. This is the ideal and very striking introduction to a visit to this magnificient example of military engineering that today is an enormous open-air museum.
From Mahon to Cales Fonts
(Es Castell)
A visit to the town of Es Castell, founded in the 18th century by the British, with its parade-ground, its red-coloured town hall building and its military museum, combined with a stroll along the shore of the port and a meal in the small and picturesque fishing harbour of Cales Fonts is well worth it.
From Mahon to the "Isla del Rey"
The only way to reach this island, that is to be found in the centre of the outer part of the Port of Mahon (Minorca), is by boat. The main attraction of this visit is the old 18th century British military hospital and the current restoration work on the building.
From Mahon to the "Isla del Lazareto"
The old quarantine island is today a place that health service personnel can use for holiday purposes. It can be visited on very specific occasions and it can only be reached by boat.
From Mahon to the "Base Naval"
One of the few opportunities to enter the naval base of Mahon is during the celebration of the "Fiesta del Carmen" in mid-July, when the Virgin of Sailors is brought from the church to be taken on the maritime procession around the Port of Mahon (Minorca).
Boats anchored inside or outside the Port of Mahon
Naval ships and tourist cruise ships often anchor in the middle of the outer port or in the open sea, away from the port. Yellow Catamarans offer a comfortable and safe transfer service for crews, visitors and passengers.
